The Tayloe Murphy Center

The Tayloe Murphy Center forms alliances with communities in the Commonwealth of Virginia that are facing challenging economic conditions. Some might broad-brush these localities that face daunting circumstances — high unemployment rates, poverty and sluggish economic growth — as past their prime. Not accepting this characterization, the Tayloe Murphy Center assists partner communities in making crucial investments — educational, institutional, infrastructural — intended to spur economic development and business growth while preserving the culture and features that make these communities great places to live.

In addition, the Tayloe Murphy Center conducts path-breaking and leadership-focused research projects that inform pressing policy and business issues central to the challenge of economic development and social progress.
