Darden has reciprocal exchange relationships with business schools around the world. These exchanges give students the opportunity to live in and learn about a culture different from that of their home country. Contractual agreements with each of our partner schools limit the number of students who can participate in an exchange. The number varies from school to school, but typically exchanges will offer between one and three slots each year.
Exchange to Darden
During the academic year, Darden takes students from our partner schools who wish to experience residential life in the United States and the academic life at Darden. Find out more about the requirements for coming on exchange to Darden.
Exchange from Darden
Darden's Exchange Program is designed for students interested in an extended residential experience outside the United States. Because exchange schools have different academic calendars and programs, exchanges are possible only during time periods that are specific for each school. Some may take exchange students only in the fall or spring. Others may only offer semester-long, rather than quarterly, exchange options. All of the programs offer a substantial number of electives in English.
Information on Exchange programs and options is provided each spring in the week preceding Second Year Pre-registration (mid-April). Students are asked to submit a simple application that asks for a prioritized choice of exchange options. Information on the number of exchange openings and the academic period during which exchanges can take place are available at each exchange program’s web page located below. If more students wish to participate in an exchange than there are available openings, the exchange students will be chosen randomly by lottery with students who were not selected placed in a prioritized waiting list.
